Willow Chair
Charles Rennie Mackintosh created this special chair for the Willow Tea House in Glasgow, Scotland between 1902 and 1904. The piece was placed in the middle of the two tea rooms, being used as a central piece that demarcates them. The curved back of the chair brings to mind the undulations of a willow, being structured in several horizontal and vertical lines, creating the illusion of a tree. The pattern of the backrest was chosen to give a mental image of the willow for the Willow teahouse.
