Sezlong Pratone
Design: Pietro Derossi, Giorgio Ceretti, Riccardo Rosso
Pratone represents an irreverent design idea; a few years after the classic interior design of the 70s, it became a reference point in the history of design. Long green stems among which we can sink and sleep, this is an unconventional chair, a chaise longue outside the values of tradition, a portion of the garden deliberately out of proportion.
Although it was designed with a precise inclination towards serial composition - so much so that it can be integrated to recreate an entire manicured green field between the walls of the house - Pratone is in all respects a radical project - an "icon" of the anti- design. It is an object for individual or collective rest - temporary, unstable, which must always be conquered due to the elasticity of the material.
Starting from two opposite mysteries - the grass as a biological reference and the material for industrial production as an artificial presence - this chair finds its place among the formal research aimed at freeing people from some conditions of their usual behavior.
In 2016, Gufram presents its first and last Scandinavian product: Nordic Pratone, with a production limited to 50 pieces, which contributes to the series of special Gufram projects on the occasion of its fiftieth anniversary.
