Mackintosh folding table
Created in 1918 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh, this folding table was specially made for the country house of industrialist W.T. Basset-Lowke. The latter, however, being a difficult customer, did not want to accept a piece with such a design. Roger Billcliffe, the author of Mackintosh's biography, believes that the artist attached great importance to this concept.
