Leda Coffee Table

Design: Salvador Dali

During the 1930's, in Paris, Salvador Dali surrounded himself with a circle of friends involved in the application of art in various disciplines and the study of pure pictorial art. Jean-Michel Frank, a prestigious furniture manufacturer and decorator recognized in Paris in those years, was in very good condition with Dali and they worked together on several ideas. The Bracelli lamp is a classic design based on the design and work of Jean-Michel, adopted by Dali for his house in Portlligat. Dali's specific furniture projects include garden furniture for his home, complete nightclub architecture for the Presidente Hotel in Acapulco (1957) and another project for a bar in California in the 1940's. . As can be seen from the small selection produced by BD Barcelona, Dali's activity was not limited to traditional furniture elements, but also included faucet accessories, handles, door pulls, printed fabrics and objects of indefinite use. In the 1990's, a group of experts, led by Oscar Tusquets, set out to turn the furniture Dali had designed for Jean-Michel Frank into reality. Among these items were the Leda chair, along with the coffee table, taken from the painting "Femme a la tête rose" (1935). The prototypes were made by the sculptor Joaquim Camps, and BD organized the production and marketing exclusively worldwide.
