Herbst Sandows chair
First exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 1929, this contemporary design piece represents Herbst's approach to industrial style. As an architect and interior decorator, Herbst adores modern style, being called the "man of steel" due to the metallic materials used industrially in his pieces. He believes that form derives from the function of objects, not the other way around. The chair has a simple tubular structure, and the exterior is made of a material used extensively in the furniture industry - elastic cords used for packages and bicycles.
