Alchemie T lamp
The antithesis between light and darkness, between sun and moon is eternal, as part of the same stream of existence. Many allegorical meanings have been given to the necessary relationship between two elements that each exist as a consequence of the other. The Alchemie T lamp, designed by Giulia Archimede for Catellani & Smith, investigates this dimension whose components are diametrically opposed, but always and forever connected. Alchemie T is a refined sculpture composed of two discs: the first, made of alabaster and illuminated by LEDs, remains fixed, while the last one, made of brass, slides on a base with rail, made of Medea limestone, only with a light touch of the hand. The interaction between light and shadow reaches its peak when the two disks overlap and almost mimic an eclipse.
